A soprano with a soaring upper register, Lauren Ireland is a talented singer, songwriter, and educator who has taught voice, piano, theory, and musical theatre for over a decade. Her award-winning students have earned accolades at the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, Calgary Junior Idol, and the Stampede Youth Talent Search, and many have been accepted into post-secondary music programs across Canada.
In addition to founding Singsana Performing Arts, Lauren has worked for The Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede performance troupe where she served as Intermediate Vocal Director, developing solo performances with the group’s Senior Singers, and providing choral arrangements for their shows. She has performed in front of thousands at the Grandstand Show and provided back-up vocals for Paul Brandt’s CBC Television Special in 2003.
An active member of the Calgary’s music scene, Lauren composes, arranges, and performs with the folk-pop trio Minerva which released its debut album Follow Me in November 2011. She is an invited guest vocalist for the jazz group One Nite Band and its featured performances on the S.S. Moyie’s Captain’s Cruise at Heritage Park. She regularly performs vocal jazz at public and private events around Calgary.
Lauren earned a Bachelor of Secondary Music Education from the University of Calgary in 2005. Her dedication to the university’s Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble earned her a trip to Newfoundland to study with Grammy Award winner Bobby McFerrin. In 2000, she performed a solo at Carnegie Hall with the St. Mary’s High School Jazz Choir under the direction of Phil Mattson, an arranger and composer who has worked with Manhattan Transfer, Chanticleer, The Real Group, and the Dale Warland Singers.
Lauren is co-founder and direction of The SHOW.
